Tonight was the airing of our interview with CTV news. You can read the article here or watch the clip here. Other than thinking i look a bit like a walrus in a sweater, it went rather well! Ozzie was absolutely adorable, and that’s what matters.
We were all abuzz about the interview, and i was on the phone with my mother when i got another call. So i said goodbye to my mom and answered the phone…i’ll paraphrase the conversation as best i can
“hello?”
“Hi,… is this Laura?”
“…yes…”
“Do you have a son named Ozzie?”
“…yes…”
“My friend saw your story on tv and she said that i have to call you. I’m 32 years old and I have Moebius Syndrome”
I was floored! She looked me up online to find my phone number and called.
She lives in Melville, SK. That’s 4 hours away! That’s in Saskatchewan!! i cried when she told me.
we spoke for 25 minutes, and i really can’t tell you how amazing it was. We’ve friended each other on facebook and hope to meet up sometime in the future.
thanks again, CTV!
Great clip and article!
It was a great story! All the best to you and your family as you go through the journey! My name is Rachel, I live in Saskatoon as well! My 5 year old son was born with an extremely rare chromosome disorder so I feel like although our journeys are different, we share a lot in common! You spoke of feeling like you’re on your own. I’m trying to get a network of parents with rare disorders started at least in the Saskatoon area for now. If you’d ever like to have coffee, give me a call! My number’s 665-8485. Or you can look me up on Facebook. My name is Nicandrae Martens.
Thanks Nicandre – i’ve sent you a friend request! 😀
Wow! That’s fantastic to have somebody so close to home contact you! Great interview by the way!
you may feel you’re alone, but you never really are. you have an entire crew of stalkers here to hold you up.
Lovely interview! It looks like your FB family is spreading the word. I wish there was a way to get the coffee shipped. I would definitely get some! Hugs to you and yours… Carole
Hey Carole, i heard that there was someone from California getting coffee shipped to her…. so, i guess what i’m saying is that it’s not TOTALLY out of the realm of possibility… and the coffee is SO SO worth it. 🙂
Laura, you look beautiful, hey, B-rad is good looking too! Love to you and your family and best of good luck with your quest.
